Jacqueline Cecile Duhon

Jacqueline Cecile Duhon of Colorado Springs passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Memorial Central Hospital in Colorado Springs.

Jacqueline, better known as “Jackie” or “Mom”, was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on October 27, 1952, the daughter of James Clay Duhon and Lucienne Louise (Liotte) Duhon.  She lived most of her life in Fountain, Colorado and Colorado Springs, Colorado but also lived briefly in South Carolina and Washington while she was married to Wayne Gagnon.  Jackie graduated from Widefield High School in 1972 and then worked a few regular jobs until she pursued her passion which was nursing.

Jackie spent her life as a caring and passionate Certified Nursing Assistant for over 30 years.  She worked at Penrose Hospital, Odyssey Healthcare, and Hospice of Colorado Springs.  Jackie also took on several private patients providing dedicated hospice care. 

Jackie spent the rest of her time entertaining.  She was extremely energetic and loved to host parties and BBQs every Spring and Summer and was best known for her deviled eggs.  Jackie also had a huge love for animals, especially cats, and the outdoors.  Through most of her adult life, Jackie’s two most precious cats were Garfield and Sebastian.  Mom also loved music and movies.  Some of her favorite artists were Dolly Parton, Neil Diamond, Josh Groban, Elvis, and many French artists.  Jackie also supported her son Jerome in all his pursuits, specifically the Air Force and his love for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Christine Anne Duhon.  Jackie is survived by her son, Jerome Lee Duhon and wife, Andrea Duhon living in North Carolina.  She was blessed with two amazing grandchildren, Izabella A. Duhon and Keegan L. Duhon, who she adored tremendously.  Jackie is also survived by three brothers, Allan Duhon and his wife Jackie Duhon, Robert “Bob” Duhon and his wife Arlene Duhon, and Bernard “Bernie” Duhon and his wife Sue Cain-Duhon, and her extended family consisting of multiple living relatives from Lousiana and France as well as several nieces and nephews who she kept in contact with throughout the years.

Jackie was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend and is already being missed.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to any of the several animal shelters in the Colorado Springs area.  Jackie’s ashes will be at Evergreen Cemetery in the cremation garden and her name will be inscribed on the cremation garden wall.
