Michael Joseph Sobczak, 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on July 18, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born on November 28, 1945, in Oceanside, California, Michael lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his family and a love for the outdoors. Michael proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. His time in the Navy was brief, but a source of great pride.
An avid outdoorsman, Michael found joy in fishing and camping, often spending time surrounded by nature’s beauty. He also had a passion for playing poker and billiards, where he enjoyed both the challenge of the game and the company of friends. At home, he cultivated a love for gardening, finding peace and satisfaction in nurturing plants.
Michael is survived by his loving family: his daughters Christina Pryor and Heather Belzer (and her wife Katelyn Belzer); his sons Eugene Sobczak (and his wife Sharon Sobczak) and Jason Sobczak (and his partner Kristi Bean); his partner Carol Harrington; his brothers David Sobczak (and sister-in-law Jackie Sobczak) and Patrick Sobczak (and sister-in-law Mary Sobczak). He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, three nieces, six nephews, their spouses, children, and countless others who cherished him.
He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Leora Sobczak; his sister Connie Broch; and brother-in-law Art Broch. Their memories remained close to Michael’s heart throughout his life.
Michael’s legacy is one of warmth, resilience, and connection. His love for life’s simple pleasures—whether casting a line into the water or sharing stories over a game of cards—will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
