Josiah Zachary “Joe Poe” Porter
With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Josiah “Joe Poe” Zachary Porter, 21 of Monte Vista, Colorado who entered eternal rest in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Denver, Colorado, on January 23, 2005, Josiah entered this world as a premature baby weighing just four pounds. From the very beginning, he was a fighter. That same strength, resilience, and determination remained with him throughout his life and was evident in the way he faced life’s challenges with courage and unwavering faith.
Josiah graduated from Monte Vista High School and dedicated a big part of his life to working at Kids Connection, where his caring heart and genuine love for others shined. He was known for his kind spirit, infectious smile, and ability to make those around him feel welcome and valued.
A devoted fan of the Denver Nuggets, Josiah loved cheering on his favorite team. He also enjoyed professional wrestling and was a big fan of John Cena and Cody Rhodes, always looking forward to watching the latest matches and storylines. He was an avid sports fan who loved keeping up with and watching sports. He was always sporting jerseys and matching hats. His love for horror movies—especially the iconic Michael Myers—was just another part of what made him uniquely himself. He was also a proud cat dad, showering his beloved cats Tulip and Julep with the same love and affection he showed to the people in his life.
Above all, Josiah loved the Lord. His faith was an important part of who he was, and he found comfort, strength, and hope in God throughout his life. He cherished his family and friends deeply, and his kindness, compassion, and sense of humor left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Josiah is lovingly survived by his mother, Renee Porter; his stepfather Jose Arias, his brothers, Daniel Palacios, Jesse Palacios (Krystal), and Adrian Palacios; his half-brother Fabian Martinez, his beloved nephews, Amari Palacios, Zayden Palacios, & Jacob Montoya. His Aunt Melissa (James) Garcia Atencio, Uncle Anthony (Christine) Porter, Cousins Deion & Reign Atencio, Adriana (Monica) Atencio, Faith Salazar, Alyssa Castro, Kaitlynn (Michael) Porter, Aria Valdez, Kayleigh Garcia, Krissa Padilla, D.J. Hobson, Asher Porter, & Matthew Martinez; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Josiah was welcomed into Heaven by his Grandmother Loraine Porter and Grandfather Frank Porter. Great Grandparents Edward & Maggie Gutierez, Great Grandmother Sadie Hayward, and numerous beloved family members.
Although his time on earth was far too short, Josiah lived a life filled with love, laughter, faith, and meaningful relationships. The legacy of his strength, compassionate heart, and unwavering love for those around him will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him. We encourage everyone to remember Josiah for the love and light he brought into our lives.
