It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of April Christy, who left this world on July 10th, 2026, at the fine age of 52.
Born April 24th, 1974 in Tucson, Arizona, April lived a life filled with love, laughter, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. She graduated from College America, where she earned a certification as a Medical Specialist which ignited her passion for caring for others. That passion led her to spend many years working as a QMAP, serving the elderly with kindness, patience, and dignity.
Above all else, April was a proud mother to Jay, Alysha, and Janessa, nothing brought her greater joy than becoming “Grandma” to her six cherished grandchildren: Baby Janessa, A’zlan, Noelle, Ava Jo, Dontavious, and Danessa, who completed the family she adored. She spoke of her children and grandchildren constantly, overflowing with pride for the people they had become. They were her greatest accomplishment, and she wore the title of Mom and Grandma with endless love.
April is lovingly survived by her children; her beloved mother, Josephine & Daddy Dave Ives; her sister Andrea & brother-in-law, Chris Goodenough; her niece and nephew, Devon & Lilly Goodenough; her Aunt Debra and Uncle Jack their two kids Leticia and Richard, along with Leticia’s two daughters Michaela and Brooklyn; as well as many other family members and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her love.
Anyone who knows April, knows she was truly one of a kind. She was a big kid at heart with a love for Hello Kitty and Frozen that never faded. She could often be found watching Dateline or The First 48, joking that she liked listening to interrogations to help her fall asleep. She loved her coffee, made exactly the way she described it—“dark like her men”—nothing more, nothing less. April also had a love for the finer things in life—she loved her purses, getting her nails done, shopping for clothes, and finding the perfect pair of shoes. She enjoyed looking good, feeling good, and expressing herself through the things she loved. These little joys were just a part of what made April so uniquely April.
If April had to be described in one phrase, she was a firework—small but dynamite. She had a bold personality that could light up any room and a smile that could brighten even the darkest day. She had a rare gift for making people laugh, making them feel seen, and offering a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on whenever it was needed. Her kindness, humor, strength, and genuine love for others left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Though her time with us feels far too short, April’s light will never fade. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, laughter, resilience, and unconditional love that will continue to shine through her children, grandchildren, family, and the countless lives she touched.
