Rachel Padilla passed away at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family on July 30th, 2026. She is
survived by her sisters – Christina and Anna, her seven children – Caroline, Rosemary, Gerald, Samuel,
Wayne, Bernice, and James – over sixty grandchildren and great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and
nephews, and eight granddogs. Rachel is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Padilla, her
parents Bernice and Jose Laranaga, her sisters Ramona and Olivia, her brother Pat, and three grandsons,
Guillermo, Raymond, and Ronnie. She was a vibrant soul who loved going to Bingo, playing poker,
scratcher tickets, visiting casinos, and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite moments
were spent on the porch, listening to music and enjoying life with those she loved the most.
Rachel maintained a positive attitude and incredible strength, even as she battled multiple illnesses. No
one would have guessed how sick she truly was, as she always greeted everyone with warmth and
optimism. She will be truly missed by all.
Services to honor her and her beautiful life are scheduled for August 14th, 2025, at Alternative Cremation
2377 N Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. Viewing begins at 10 AM, her rosary will be at 10:30
AM followed by a mass at 11:00 AM. Reception is to follow from 1 PM – 3PM at Hillside Community
Center, 935 W Institute St – Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Her final resting place will be at Evergreen
Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Express – Colorado Springs, CO 80903 date to be later this month.
