Marlene Gertrude Buttle, age 76, a resident of Cotopaxi, Colorado and the Fountain Valley area for the past 51 years, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2019 in Colorado Springs. Marlene was born on October 28, 1942 in Little Rock, IA the daughter of the late Raymond and Marie Roos. Marlene was the Chief Medical Technologist and Head of Laboratory Services in several facilities throughout Colorado and South Dakota. She married William “Bill” Buttle on July 30, 1965.
She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and genuine friend to so many. Marlene was member of both Widefield Community Bible Church and Cotopaxi Community Church. She enjoyed skiing, gardening, hiking, swimming, sewing, reading, anything rhubarb, and watching hockey (Go Aves!). Marlene was a selfless volunteer for the Olympic Training Center, Widefield Water & Sanitation District, US Figure Skating where she worked at many World and National events hosted at the World Arena, US Swimming, and a 50-year member of the American Medical Technologists Association. Marlene’s favorite activity was being with, and doing things for family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Marlene is survived by her husband Bill Buttle, her two children, Michelle (Greg) Sibley of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Travis (Jenifer) Buttle of Shaftsbury, Vermont, four grandchildren, Austin, Elizabeth, Garrett, and Gavin, two brothers, Ronald Roos of Little Rock, Iowa, Richard (Betty) Roos of Dacono, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Marcella Nachtigal (Roos) and Mildred Moore (Roos), and brother Russell Roos.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 PM on June 29, 2019 at the Widefield Community Bible Church, 702 Quebec St., Widefield, CO 80911 presided by Pastor Jeremy Estrema. A reception will follow from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at Hotel Elegante’, 2886 South Circle Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80906. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Village Mission, villagemission.org, Cotopaxi, CO -or- Pikes Peak Hospice, pikespeakhospice.org, Colorado Springs.
