Martin Leslie Anderson, 66, passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs, CO on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 with his wife, Kathy, holding his hand. He was surrounded by his family that he loved so dearly. Martin had battled with a rare blood cancer (Aggressive Systemic Mastocytosis).

Martin was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Marsden and Mary Anderson on July 29,1954.  He graduated from Oberlin High School, in Oberlin Louisiana, in 1972.  He married the love of his life and wife for nearly 45 years, Kathy Anderson (née Culpepper) on March 1,1976 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They began their life together living in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Denham Springs, Louisiana. Martin and Kathy welcomed their son Erick into the world in 1977 and Ethan in 1981. He graduated from LSU with a bachelor’s degree in religious studies in 1989. Fulfilling their sense of adventure, they moved to Germany for 2 years, and finally settled in Colorado Springs in 1992. Martin had a career leaning heavy to restaurant management before he exercised his entrepreneurial spirit. Along with his wife Kathy, he was the proud owner and operator of Culpepper’s Cajun Kitchen in Colorado Springs for over 8 years. The restaurant combined two of Martin’s passions: food and people.

When the sunny days of spring and summer came, it was a near guarantee you would find Martin tending to his garden and pond. Martin also had a passion for his alma mater’s football team, and finally got to see an LSU Tigers National Championship in 2020. Above all, Martin’s greatest joy came from his wife and his grandchildren.

Martin is preceded in death by his mother Mary Pickle, brothers David and Jimmy Anderson, and his beloved grandson Jared Anderson.

Martin is survived by his wife Kathy Anderson, his sons Erick Anderson, Ethan Anderson and his wife Danielle, his sister Drucy Hardesty and brother Neil Anderson, his grandchildren: Rian Anderson, Aubree Anderson, Beckett Anderson, and Nola Anderson, and his loyal feline companion Bernie.
