Steven Lee Windsor passed away peacefully in his home with family at his side on September 2, 2018 at the age of 69 after a brief battle with ALS.
Steve is survived by his wife Nancy, son Mike and Nashonna Windsor, daughters Shelley and Steve Loftis, Jeannie and Steve Mueller, and Robin and Jeff Schawe. Steve loved his 7 grandchildren; Kendall, Kohan, Ava, Gavin, Evan, Blake and Kennedy. He is also survived by his former wife Kathy, sister Vickie and Dieter Daly, brother Sandy Teague, nieces and nephew Clayton and Blair, Ashley and Ryan.
Steve was born on June 9, 1949 in Dallas, TX to Duke and Wilma Windsor. He graduated from Kimball High School in 1967 and served in the Army from 1969-1971. Steve attended college but much preferred to be outdoors working with his hands. In 1977 Steve relocated to Enid, OK where he began Windsor Concrete, Inc. In 1979 his son Mike was born and the family moved to Colorado Springs, CO where his daughter Shelley was born. His family remembers him as an incredibly hard worker that gave selflessly to all he knew. He was a wonderful father and friend that never met a stranger. His role as Grandpa and Papa brought so much joy to him, his children and his grandchildren. Steve was an avid Harley Davidson rider and leaves behind countless friends that considered him family.
After being best friends for 11 years Steve and Nancy married in 2016 and continued to live in Colorado Springs, beautifully blending their families. Steve and Nancy enjoyed traveling, playing dominos, quiet nights at home, and evenings with friends filled with laughter. Nancy’s love and care allowed Steve to stay in their home where a multitude of visitors told him stories daily.
Steve is preceded in death by his father and mother, step-father Wayne Vardeman, and his sister Suzanne Teague.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 pm Tuesday September 11th at Alternative Cremation, 2337 N. Academy Blvd. with a reception to immediately follow at 2535 N. Chelton Rd. The family would like to thank the caregivers from Abode Hospice for their compassionate care and love given to Steve and his family. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ALS Association.
