Amy Rae Sutton, born on January 31, 1973, in Pueblo, Colorado, passed away on October 20, 2026. Amy was a vibrant soul whose spirited presence left a special impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was the cherished daughter of Michael and the late Shirley Nidey, whose warmth and compassion she carried forward in her own life.
Amy attended East High School, and was known for her vivacious personality and her zest for life. She was the life of the party, a woman who could light up any room with her infectious laughter and fierce spirit.
Though her marriage to Shane Sutton ended, their friendship and dedication to co-parenting showed a testament to the love and respect they shared. Amy was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Makena and Kylie, and a beloved “Mimi” to her grandchildren, Ledger and Zayden. Amy’s love for her family was boundless, and she found immense joy in spending time with them, especially in the beautiful mountains of Creede, Colorado. Amy devoted these past 3 years helping take care of her grandson, “Ledgie boy” and there wasn’t a day that went by that she didn’t brag about being his Mimi. Amy’s youngest daughter, Kylie, was so special to her. The bond they shared was unconditional. They were the best of friends.
Amy’s affection for animals was no secret, and she adored her beloved “son” Milo, who has now welcomed her into heaven. She had such a love for music, particularly the band Creed; friends and family often found her singing and dancing to her favorite songs- her spirit unrestrained and her heart full of life. Amy shared the same love of music with her little brother, who she absolutely adored.
Those left to honor her memory include her father, Michael Nidey; her children, Makena and Cody Mikus, and Kylie Sutton; her grandchildren, Ledger and Zayden Mikus; and her sibling, Cris Nidey (Amanda Roach). Amy’s legacy of love, laughter, feistiness, and resilience will live on in their hearts.
A celebration of Amy’s vibrant life will be held on November 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Cat’s Pourhouse, located at 147 S Tiffany Dr, Pueblo West, CO 81007.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has provided support, love, and encouragement during this difficult time. Amy’s memory will be honored forever, and her joyous spirit will continue to inspire those who were touched by her life.
