Troy Hardin, 71, passed away in Colorado Springs, CO on Friday, January 8th, 2020 with his wife, Cindy, holding his hand. He was surrounded by the love and prayers of family and friends. He was recovering from hip surgery when he contracted COVID-19, the virus was just too much. 

He was born in Oklahoma City, OK, the oldest of three children of Floyd E. Hardin and Helen (Cowan) Hardin. He grew up in Midwest City, OK. He graduated from Midwest City High School in 1967, where he was a proud three-year member of the Bomber Band. 

Troy enlisted in the US Navy in 1969 and began his active-duty service after graduation. He served on the USS Ranger and the Tonkin Gulf off the Vietnam coast. He received an honorable discharge in 1972. 

After his service in the navy he lived in San Diego and the surrounding area for over 35 years. During this time, he worked as a journeyman carpenter, completed his BS degree from San Diego State in Anthropology, taught high school history and worked for the California National Guard as an Assoc. Environmental Planner. 

In 2011 he moved to Huntsville, AL and then to Colorado Springs, CO in 2014.

Troy is survived by his wife, Cindy, of Colorado Springs, one son, Christopher Hardin of Utica, KY, a brother, Terry (Patty) Hardin of Nashville, TN, and a sister, Jeannie Hardin (Blair) Schoeb of Oklahoma City, OK. Troy has two grandchildren, Carlie and Wesley Hardin of Bowling Green, KY, along with three nieces and four great nieces and nephews. Troy was preceded in death by his father and mother, Floyd, and Helen (Cowan) Hardin.

Troy has four stepchildren that he was proud to call his own children, Crystal (Jeremy) Pedersen of Magna, UT, Autumn Roberts of Longmont, CO, Joshua (Tiffany) Dixon of Commerce City, CO Robb (Kelsey) Dixon of Longmont, CO and six grandchildren. 

Troy loved music, people, and volunteering in the clinic at the Humane Society! He was a gifted musician and wonderful storyteller. His deep laugh and easy going way of making everyone feel special will be greatly missed by many.
