Opal Frances May Tomlinson

Opal Frances May was born on December 7th 1938 to parents Nellie Veatch May and Elmer May in Ottumwa Iowa. She had two older brothers Jim, and Chuck, and One younger brother Bill. Opal grew up on farms early in life and later attended East High in Des Moines Iowa, where she graduated in 1956. Opal then attended a 4Square Church Bible College in Los Angeles California, where she shared an apartment that looked out over Echo Park. Her future husband Bud (Darrell), would drive out to LA and bring Opal back to Des Moines to visit her family on breaks, and eventually they got married and started a family. 

Opal is survived by her children named Deb Downey, Sandy Warren, Delores Stewart, and Darrell Tomlinson. Then her Grand Children being Keith Charvonia, Marie Macri, Jessics (Miykal-Li) Stewart, Kate Dembinski, and Alice Shkiryak. Opal’s Great Grandchildren being Tanner and Hudson Charvonia, Faith and Cody Sheals, and Lyra Shkiryak. 

Opal lived all over the USA during her lifetime. She loved to travel and visited family often. While working Opal was employed by Look Magazine, Insurance Companies in Iowa, Avon, and also helped her husband run various businesses they co-owned over the years. 

Opal loved music, movies, car races, basketball, and animals. But even more, she loved her family, and will forever be missed in the coming days and years. While we shed tears over her departure, we celebrate the life she lived, and that she has gone to Heaven, where she is in the company of her departed loved ones, and Jesus, and God. Amen.
