Wendy Rae Rottigni, 58, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away on 10/25/23 after a long 16 year battle with cirrhosis of the liver and COPD.
Wendy was born on 6/27/65 to Janet May Hansen and Wilbur Wayne Hansen in Enterprise, Alabama. She graduated from Banks High School in Oregon in 1984. It was there that she made a lifelong friendship with Kimara, her best friend for 43 years.
She wed her husband, Richard Rottigni, on August 20th, 1989. They had two beautiful and wonderful girls together, Renee and Robyn Rottigni.
Wendy loved taking trips to Oregon and Michigan to see and spend time with family. She loved the West coast, the ocean, and any body of water. She collected sea shells every time she visited the West coast, and Petoskey stones anytime she was in Michigan. She loved hot air balloons and the biannual balloon lift offs in Colorado Springs. She was a lover of all animals, but especially cats, and she always had at least one cat in the house. Wendy Rae was goofy, silly, spunky and was not afraid to be herself with no filter. She stood up for friends and family, and always wanted to help them in any way she could. She had a fierce love of family, but especially for her two girls, who she wished a happy and healthy life for. Her favorite saying to them was, “I love you more than life itself.”
Wendy was predeceased by her Aunt Barbara, her husband Richard Rottigni, and her father, Wilbur Hansen. She is survived by her mother, Janet May Williams, her sister, Jennifer Jacobs, her brother, Micheal Williams, her two daughters, Renee Rottigni and Robyn Timmerman, and many more nieces, nephews and cousins. She brought light and laughter with her wherever she went and she will be missed.
The family decided not to hold a public service. Immediate family members held a celebration of life at Wendy’s brother’s house in Colorado Springs on Saturday, 10/28/23. Wendy was cremated 10/30/23. Her ashes were brought home on 11/1/23 and will be spread across CO, MI, and OR at a later date.
