Frank Wilford Pierce, 82, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at his home in Monument, Colorado.
Frank was born at home in the Knob Hill neighborhood of Colorado Springs. His family moved to Monument, Colorado, in 1944. He attended Lewis-Palmer High School, where he met the love of his life, Roberta J. Redmon (Bobbe). They married on May 24, 1960.
With the exception of a brief stint as a miner in Leadville, Colorado, Frank worked entirely in the Tri-Lakes community. In his early years he worked in the family scrap metal business, delivering milk, and fixing tires at the truck stop. He would go on to work for the U.S. Forest Service at the Monument Nursery, the Woodmoor Corporation, and finally Lewis-Palmer School District 38, where he served 29 years, mostly as head custodian of Lewis-Palmer High School. He retired in 1996.
In addition to his employment, Frank was a long-time volunteer with the Palmer Lake Fire Department and also served on the Palmer Lake Town Council.
Frank loved hunting, fishing, and poker but most of all he loved his family. Spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings brought him much joy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbe, infant son Frank, parents Margaret and Kenneth, and siblings Tom and Emily.
He is survived by his children Jim (Jeanne), Terri, and Lisa (Karen); his grandchildren, Chris, Matt, Joe (Mellora), Alex, and Maddie; great-grandchildren Kathryn, Llewyn, and Bobbe; and siblings Norman, Don, Jerry, Mary, Walt, Linda, and Sam.
Frank died surrounded by his family after a seven-year struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. Donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation and Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care.
A celebration and remembrance of Frank’s life will be hosted on Saturday, November 4, at 2 pm at the Lewis-Palmer School District 38 administration building (Big Red) at 146 N Jefferson St in Monument.
