David Dale Goeken was born in Brush, Colorado, on October 01, 1946, to Lacy Abe Goeken and Henrietta (Moeller) Goeken. His parents and siblings, Harry, Robert, Nora, and Alberta Goeken, and three grandchildren, Mitchell and Miranda Whittaker, and Christopher Smart, preceded him in death.

David was a veteran of the Army, having been stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He passed away on his farm, where he took care of 75 alpacas and many other farm animals in Calhan, Colorado.
