Zouhair R. Younan, (62), passed away on August 24, 2023, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Zouhair, fondly known as Zoo, was born to Ray and Nijmah Younan on January 28, 1961 in Homs, Syria.

Zoo was the ultimate family man and centered his life around his wife and kids. This was exemplified by his complete dedication of the final months of his life to making sure his family would be left in the best situation possible. His selflessness was felt in every moment spent with him, and will continue to be felt for years to come.

Zoo grew up fishing and playing sports, and he passed these passions on to his children. Nothing made him happier than being at the softball field with Erica and Brittany or landing a marlin with Brian, and nothing disappointed him more consistently than his unwavering lifelong fandom of the Detroit Lions.

Zoo’s passions were not limited just to his family or to playing and enjoying sports – Zoo took after his wonderful mother in having a strong passion for providing hospitality to and feeding those around him, and their true passion soon became eating the food Zoo made.

Zoo’s sense of humor was unmatched and his laughter was infectious. He could bring everyone around him to the point of physical pain from laughter with his wit. There was not another person who could make people laugh as consistently, and consequently, there was not a more satisfying person to make laugh.

Zoo was a truly exceptional person, and it is impossible to find words to convey what he provided to those around him, how he made them feel, and the massive void left behind that will be impossible to fill with his passing.

Zoo is survived by his wife Mary and three children, Erica, Brian, and Brittany. He is also survived by his brother Elias and three sisters, Najah, Sadie, and Joann.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in whichever way(s) you wish. However, the family requests that you do not send flowers.
