Kenneth Kaufman, (85) passed away peacefully at home September 12, 2021.  Ken was born to Mary and John Kaufman on November 21, 1935 in Lyman, Nebraska.  He was the youngest of 7 with 6 older sisters.  Ken was often fondly referred to, by his sisters, as “Kenneth Leroy Johnny Junior Sunny Boy Kaufman.”  He graduated from Gering, Nebraska High School in 1954.  Served in the US Navy from 1954 to 1958 as a Radio Operator while stationed on the USS Bugara (Submarine) frequently off the coast of Japan.  His service continued in the Naval reserve for 4 years.  Ken married Margaret Snyder on January 17, 1958.  They had 3 children, Karen, Kathy and Bruce.  Following graduation from Chadron State College (Nebraska), Ken taught High School Math briefly in Brighton, Colorado.  He resigned his position and worked for General Motors Corporation prior to working 31 years for Farmers Insurance.  Ken was involved in Kiwanis, Meals on Wheels, loved animals and volunteered his time with animal shelters.  The City of Pueblo, Colorado declared on March 29, 1996 “Ken Kaufman Day” recognizing Ken’s life reflecting “the efforts of an ambitious, dedicated, and focused individual whose determination to succeed has led him to be the pillar of his family and his business, and a role model for the citizens of our community and the young people of our country.”  He is survived by children Karen (Mitch) Mosier of Woodland Park and Bruce Kaufman of Pueblo; son-in-law Calvin Christofferson (Denver, Colorado); grandchildren Samantha Kaiser (Omaha, Nebraska), Kathryn Deterding (Lincoln, Nebraska), Kenny Christofferson and Kimberly Harmon (Denver, Colorado), Kelby Christofferson (Sterling, Colorado), Kayce  Kaufman (Cripple Creek, Colorado), Winter Kaufman (Los Angeles, California) and 11 great grandchildren.  He is predeceased by his wife Margi Kaufman, daughter Kathy Christofferson and his 6 Sisters.  A memorial service is pending with a Family Celebration of Life to be scheduled in the Spring of 2022.
