Donald Arthur Bosin
With sadness in our hearts and joy in our souls, the family of Don Bosin (known to family and many friends as Jake) shares the end of his difficult battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
He fought heroically since the terminal diagnosis in late January 2021. An aggressive form of the disease, it was resistant to all treatment provided by the medical professionals of UC Health. Although the disease continued its march through his body, the physicians, RN’s and staff worked diligently with caring and expertise to provide every opportunity for his recovery. The Palliative Care team from Kaiser Permanente provided their expertise to assist with Don’s pain management and other aspects of the treatment as well as to provide support for his wife, Judy. Although very briefly, he also received care from Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care.
Everyone Don spoke to, especially after the diagnosis, heard that he had experienced a full and good life with no regrets or anger at his fate. An important part of his life was his belief in Jesus Christ and the Christian promise of eternal life. This belief gave him perspective and comfort as he faced most days with unrelenting pain.
He loved traveling and road trips, hunting, creating and preparing meals for family and friends, growing and nurturing vegetables from seeds (especially tomatoes), watching UFC matches, time at the gym, Harley rides and a good Scotch! The neighbors could almost set their watches when seeing him and his furry buddies on daily walks. Rain, snow or cold made no difference as this was their ritual when sick or well.
Many friends with whom he grew up or gained as an adult will remember his acerbic wit and unfailing faithfulness to friendships. His clients usually became friends and neighbors knew he would lend a helping hand if needed.
He leaves behind his wife, Judy; brother, Rick (Marilyn); stepsons, Chris (Becky) and Matt (Nicole) Henderson; grandchildren, Glenora, Lucas and Charli; father-in-law Roy, Gilreath Sr.; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Rick) and Tamara (Barry); brothers-in-law, David Langolf, Roy, Gilreath, Jr. (Donna) and Barry Tidwell (Tamara), as well as other loving relatives through both blood and marriage. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Art and Vera, and his sister, Nikki.
His parting wish was not to say “goodbye”, but rather to say
“see you on the other side”!
In honor of Don’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Anyone wishing to make a donation in his honor should select the charity of their choice.
