Robert L. Orme died of lung disease on May 30, 2020, in Colorado Springs, CO. He was 67.

Robert L. Orme (Bob) was born September 27, 1952, in Duluth, MN, the son of Mary (Williams) Orme and Charles Orme.

Living in numerous locations while growing up in a military family, Bob moved to his forever hometown, Colorado Springs, in 1965. Bob graduated from Palmer High School in 1969 and attended El Paso Community College with a major in Pharmacology and a minor in Psychology.

Bob worked for and later managed ‘The Speaker Shop’ for nearly 50 years, from 1970-2019, where he repaired and rebuilt audio speakers for clients throughout the western US.

His passion, however, was his work as a Results Reporter for FastNews Network for 23 years, covering National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) drag racing events. Bob’s love for motorracing originated by watching the annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb  starting in the early 1970’s and then attending his first drag racing event at Bandimere Speedway in the early 1990’s.

Bob also enjoyed playing poker and loved visiting Las Vegas. He even had a brief job of playing poker professionally in Cripple Creek as a Proposition Poker Player or ‘Prop’.  He was an active member of the Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collecting Club for 25 years, where he befriended collectors from all over the US.

A kind man with a winning smile, big heart and a gentle soul, Bob is much loved and will be missed by many.

Robert L. Orme is survived by his sisters: Holly Orme (husband Steve Mehlstaub), Kansas City, MO, Leslie (Orme) Jaffe (husband Robert Pokorney), Taos, NM, and Vicky (Orme) Stinson (husband John Stinson), Flagstaff, AZ; and, nephews: Max Mehlstaub and Louis Mehlstaub, Kansas City, MO.
