Charlene Gayle (Friedly) Tate, 73, went to be with her Lord Jesus on April 27th, 2020, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert J. Tate, and her children, Victoria Luecke, Angela Schneider, Christina Davis and David Tate, seven grandchildren (Megan, Blake, Garrett, Alexandra, Josiah, Gabe and Emma) and three great-grandchildren (Elias, Emani and Niklas.)
She was born Charlene Gayle Friedly to Charles and Iola Friedly, July 30, 1946 in Junction City, Kansas, and had two brothers, Larry and Willard, both of whom preceded her in death.
In 1964, Charlene completed one of the first IBM classes in Kansas City, earning her certification as a keypunch operator. She worked a short time in this field, but fell in love and got married, bringing her first beautiful baby into the world the next year. She fulfilled her heart’s desire as a homemaker, dedicated to the raising and education of four energetic kids. Not only did she care for her own children, but lovingly cared for other children, her grandchildren and, most recently, her great grandchildren. She was also a strong support of her husband’s business, helping as much as she could. She was an amazing cook as well, and her recipes will be treasured by those she leaves behind.
But her first and foremost love was Jesus Christ. Her dedication to writing, studying the scriptures, and sharing God’s love with others is what she would want to be remembered for. The legacy Charlene leaves behind is one of incredible faith, knowing that what the Lord can do goes far beyond all earthly treasures.
