SFC Samuel R. Baumgartner Jr. retired born January 1953 left this world April 2020.  Born in New Castle, Indiana to Samuel and Phyllis Baumgartner. Sam loved his country so much he joined the United States Army in 1975 and retired in 1996.  He went on to work for Seimens/Evoqua Water Filtration Systems before retiring after 20 years there. This time he enjoyed playing golf and was on several bowling leagues. He enjoyed traveling, good food, but most importantly he enjoyed his family and his friends were family.  To Sam there was nothing more exciting than watching his grandchildren compete in sports from bowling, baseball, basketball, volleyball, or wrestling he was so proud of them all.

He married Kim in March of 1982 and they had many adventures together. They enjoyed going to Las Vegas to watch him bowl in the military bowling tournament.  They were stationed in many different places and met many people along the way no one was a stranger.  Sam was blessed with three beautiful daughters Vanessa (Taylor), Katie (Devon), and Ashley (David). He had nine grandchildren Sean, Dakota, Mackenzie, Logan, Lauren, Madison, Onalise, Alyssa, and Ty and one great grandchild Levi. All his grandchildren inherited his love of sports.

He leaves behind his beautiful mother Phyllis, his sister Lynn (Mike), sisters-in-law Chris and Tami and a brother- in-law Wayne. He had many nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces that he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his father and his father-in-law.
