Perry O. Parkes

Perry O. Parkes passed away October 07, 2019, 79 years young, at Hildebrand Care Center in Canon City, Colorado.

Perry was born June 15, 1940 to Wallace and Blossie Parkes in Louisville, Mississippi.

Perry leaves behind his devoted wife Karla of 58 years, his two children Ralph and Vicki with son in-law Ed.  He is survived by one sister Shirley, one brother Robert “Dempsey”, sister in-law Mary, a niece Emmy, and a nephew Josh.  He is preceded in death by his father and mother and a younger brother Terry “Don”.

Perry served his country for 20 years with the U.S Army.  His early years in the Army was in the Special Forces where he fought in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor.

After he retired from the military he moved his family to Colorado where he then worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Pueblo, Colorado for 20 years.   When he decided to retire for good, he had a house built and moved to Canon City to live happily ever after with his wife whom he loved very much.

Perry was a quiet man, but do not let that fool you, when he had something to say he would let you know what was on his mind.   Perry had a favorite quote “If you had nothing nice to say about me when I was alive, then don’t say anything nice about me when I am dead.”  He loved spending time outdoors and tinkering around the house. He was a southern man through and through and lived his life with dignity and honor.  He was taken from us to soon.  Gone but not forgotten.  We love you ALWAYS!!  You are missed.
