Annabelle Tomlin Eckels
Annabelle Eckels passed peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday April 17, 2019 in Pueblo West, CO. She was the last survivor of six children born to Fred Leslie Tomlin and Eva Maud Stewart Tomlin. Born in Salida, CO on July 7, 1924, she also lived in Rocky Ford, Boulder, and Estes Park, CO. She attended the University of Colorado, Boulder. While visiting her sister on the east coast as a young woman, she took a painting class from illustrator Franklin Schoonover, where she met her future husband, Warren Henry Eckels, of Baltimore, MD, who preceded her in death. They lived in Wilmington, DE, Kingston, NY, and Salt Lake City, UT.
Annabelle was a gifted painter and sculptor as well as a loving wife, mother of two daughters, and aunt to many nieces and nephews who loved her gentle nature, warm smile, and sparkling eyes. She is survived by her daughters Nancy Eckels of Canyon Country, CA and Karen Scharer of Pueblo West, CO, as well as 10 nieces and nephews. She was well-loved and will be greatly missed.
Annabelle’s ashes will be spread with those of her beloved husband at a later date. No services are planned.
