Walter Travis the “Doc” Green, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great–grandfather
passed away on March 8, 2025, at the age of 76 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in
Galesburg, Illinois on December 9, 1948, to Robert Lee Green and Fern Ann Waudby.
He is survived by his loving wife Debra Lynn Green, sons Walter Travis Green III (Corina),
Jonathan Edward Green (Amanda), daughter Annalea Marie Green, grandchildren Gabriella
Green, Daryll Green Jackson, Alan Maleski, Candice Woodworth, Cara Pastrana, Carissa
Schmid, Caren Kesterson and 13 great–grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
parents and his sister.
He joined the United States Army in 1969. He was stationed at Fort Carson and that is when he
met the love of his life. They married on February 6, 1971, and celebrated their 54 th anniversary
this year. They lived in many different duty stations with two deployments in Germany and one
in Honduras. He retired in 1991. They settled in Florence, CO. He enjoyed singing karaoke and
spending time with friends and family.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 11 th at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church,
11020 Teachout Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80908. The rosary will start at 10:30 am with the
funeral mass beginning at 11:00 am. The funeral mass will be live streamed, it can be found at
https://www.ourladyofthepines.org/upcomingfuneralinformation. A reception will be held at 5:00
pm at Penrose VFW, 402 S Broadway, Penrose, CO 81240. The internment of his ashes will
take place on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11:00 am at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545
Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80925. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to My
Neighborhood’s Cupboard, 409 Broadway Penrose, CO 81240 or to your local VFW in his
memory.
