Fred Allen Carrico
November 13, 1943 – January 14, 2025
Fred Carrico, age 81, passed away peacefully at his Colorado Springs home on Tuesday, January 14. Fred was born in Houston, Texas to Johnie and Leta (Pickle) Carrico. He was the youngest of four children.
Fred was born and raised in Houston, Texas and graduated from the University of Houston in 1967. Fred enjoyed a successful career in finance and accounting that lead him to early retirement in the beautiful state of Colorado.
Throughout his life, Fred enjoyed many passions and hobbies including golfing, cycling, fishing, hiking, skiing, pickleball and enjoying the beauty of the Colorado outdoors. Fred loved traveling and good music. He was a wine connoisseur who loved cooking and entertaining friends and family. He was an avid and enthusiastic Denver Broncos fan and most of all enjoyed quality time with those he loved most – family and friends.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents Johnie and Leta Carrico, his siblings: Jimmie Carrico, Nelda Vickery and Billy Carrico and his loving wife of 29 years, Kathleen Carrico, who bravely lost her battle to breast cancer in 2009.
Fred is survived by his four children: Kellie, Cary, Christine and Michael, bonus children by marriage: Anthony, Cory and Aleksandra, grandchildren: Mac, Zander, Irish, Claire, Zoey, Lillian, and Liam and wife, Amy Kennedy.
Fred was a loving man and devoted husband, father, and grandad. He touched the lives of many and will be missed terribly by his family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
The family would like to thank Abode Hospice and the care team at Sunrise Senior Living at University Park for their exceptional care for Fred over the past months.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in Fred’s name to support ongoing research and support of those affected by Parkinson’s Disease.
