Leslie (Les) Arthur Wicks departed this life for the Afterworld on January 6, 2025 at the age of 76 at his beloved home in Ramah, Colorado.
Leslie was born August 22, 1948, in Morris, IL, to Lyle and Fern Wicks. The second youngest in the family, he had three siblings: Lydia (Johnson), Lynn, and Paul. After being raised in Nettle Creek Township near Lisbon, Les met and married Katherine Limbach of Morris. Together, they had three stellar daughters and lived in many interesting places, including Ventura, CA, Golden, CO, and Anchorage, AK, before settling in Ramah, Colorado on a 40 acre Homestead (lovingly referred to as “The Honeypot” by local old-timers).
Traveling, reading, gardening, guns, and motorcycles were among Les’ passions, and he briefly played the ukulele. He built, owned, and operated Wicks Glass for many years and was well known throughout the surrounding areas as an accomplished businessman. He was very talented at building and repairing almost anything and loved to come up with creative solutions for problems.
After retiring, he spent his time between Colorado and Illinois, traveling often and taking long motorcycle rides with his companion, Jo Ann.
Les is survived by his sister Lydia, three daughters: Karrie, Kim, and Erika, and three grandchildren: Megan, Brandon, and Svea. He also leaves behind his former wife, Kathy, and his longtime partner, Jo Ann.
At his request, no services will be held; if you wish to honor his memory, please donate in his name to the local animal shelter of your choice.
