Harriette Elaine Bliss Weidner, born September 23, 1938, in Deadwood, SD, passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs, CO on December 11th, 2024. Daughter of the late Harry Howard Bliss and Sadie Hester Calhoun, Harriette moved often as a child before settling in Miamisburg, Ohio, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Richard Weidner. They shared 59 wonderful years of marriage before his passing.

A graduate of the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing, Harriette worked as a dedicated nurse, retiring from the Cardiac Catheter Lab at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Indiana. Her life was devoted to caring for others, both in her profession and as a loving mother and grandmother.

Harriette loved gardening, quilting, sewing, embroidery, and reading, gifting her handmade creations to those she loved. She was active in the quilt guild and garden club in Crossville, TN, and shared a passion for roses with Richard. Together, they competed in rose competitions, and the American Rose Society has a rose that was hybridized by her husband Richard called “Sweet Harriette.”

Known for her sweet and witty personality, Harriette never met a stranger and spread joy wherever she went. She is preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine Bliss Wallace. She is survived by her sister, Betti Bliss Ellis; her children, Mark (Molly) Weidner, Mitzi (Dale) DeYoung, and Lisa (Christophe) Robin; grandchildren Melissa (Kyle), Andrew, Sydney, Madison (Nick), Mason, and Davis; and great-grandchildren Brodie, Rhett, and Case.
