Paul Henry Matejka, Jr. a resident of Peyton, CO was born in Omaha, NB on October 30, 1942 to parents, Paul Henry and Ann (Theodore) Matejka, died September 29, 2024.

Raised in Alliance, Nebraska, Paul enjoyed his early years as a Ranch Hand before enlisting in the military in 1962, as an Airbourne Combat Engineer. Paul later attended OCS and was deployed Vietnam with the 101st Airbourne Division, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.  Upon his return from Vietnam, Paul earned his Green Beret with the 10th Special Forces Group.  Paul was proud to serve in the US Army for 22.5 years having served in Dominican Republic, Fort Rucker AL, Fort Sill OK, Vietnam, Fort Devens MA, Korea, Fort Bragg NC, Thailand, Willow Grove NAS PA, and Japan.

Since retiring in 1984, Paul was a resident of the Colorado Springs community.  He worked at Ace Hardware before retiring again and becoming a Happy House Husband.  Paul loved being able to travel the world, cruising, camping and hunting and spending time with friends and family.  

At the time of his death. Paul was the Post Commander of the VFW Post #12227.  

Paul died on September 29, 2024 as a result of injuries sustained in a horrific motorcycle accident on September 6th.  Paul is survived by his wife, Susan B. (Schwarz), children Tonya, Amanda (John Wayne Payne) and Ian Rea.
