Phyllis Ruth Hudson Fairchild passed away July 20, 2024 at the age of 94.  She was born June 18, 1930, in Westfield, New Jersey. As a young woman, she attended Cedarcrest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and commuted into New York City, from NJ, where she worked for the Home Insurance Company. She met and married her husband of 63 years, Richard Fairchild in 1952, and eventually moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where she raised their three children, Daniel, Deborah, and Wendy. Phyllis was a teacher, an accomplished artist, poet, and pianist, and the owner of Tumbleweed Books, a bookstore beloved by many readers, book collectors, and customers, many of whom became dear friends. She managed the store for over 30 years and hosted the Pueblo Poetry Group for several of these. She was well read, well travelled and well educated but very humble and kind, and loved a good laugh! The family would like to thank the team at Primrose Retirement Community of Pueblo where she spent her last few months, for their kindness, warmth, professionalism and friendship, and a special thanks to her personal caregivers, Sandra and Stephanie, and especially to Melissa Copeland. Phyllis leaves behind her children, daughter-in-law Diane Rabson, two grandsons (Sam Fairchild and Nicholas Valdez) and two great granddaughters (Thora and Lulu Fairchild), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.  A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
