Donald Dale Ellis (November 16, 1948 – June 28, 2024)

Donald (Don) Ellis, proud father of one child and devoted husband, died in Colorado Springs, Colorado at age 75.

Don was born in Fargo, North Dakota in 1948 to Frances June Butcher and Dale Samuel Ellis and was the second youngest of four children, including a half-brother. He attended Technical High School in St. Cloud, Minnesota, before studying English and Journalism at St. Cloud State College in 1972 and subsequently earning an MBA degree in Finance at St. Cloud State University in 1979. He enjoyed a career in Finance working in both the retail and telecommunications industries, and also taught accounting at his alma mater.

Don was a devoted and loving father to Jessica Ellis, who dearly misses him and the life lessons he imparted to her, including the value of working hard, building good habits, and appreciating life’s journey. He was also a dedicated and loving husband to Noemi Ellis, who will forever treasure the memories of how he always made her feel loved, cherished, and supported.

In Don’s spare time, he would often be found tending to the yard, reading nonfiction, and doing stock trading. He also loved to blast ‘70’s music anytime he was traveling in his car. He was smart, funny, well-spoken, attentive, and loving.

Don is survived by his wife, Noemi Ellis, his ex-wife Haishan Ellis, his daughter Jessica Ellis and son-in-law Saxon Parker, his grandchild Cardamon Parker, his siblings: Mike Ellis, Kathy Helstrom, and sister-in-law Joyce Kaufman, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service will be held close to his hometown of Sartell, Minnesota in the fall of 2024.
