Robert Curtis Stolz, 55, passed away peacefully at his home in Colorado Springs on March 24th, 2024 after having been diagnosed with brain cancer three years prior. He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on April 24th, 1968 to Paul and Carolyn Stolz.
Rob began his life at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Greene County, Ohio. In 1974, he with his parents and sister, Amy, moved to Colorado Springs. It was during these early years that he developed his love for the Colorado outdoors. He attended Doherty High School then began his college years at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs before completing his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Colorado State University in December, 1990. It was also at this time that he met his wife, Heather. They married March 27th, 1993 and have two children, Derek and Jason. While living in Ft. Collins, Rob continued to enjoy the mountains, taking his young family hiking, camping, and off-roading.
Rob took pride in a job well done whether he was planting a tree, painting the house, or at his job. He found purpose in providing for his family and building his career. He began his career in Electrical Distribution at Wesco in January, 1991, just one month after completing college. He remained with Wesco for 33 years, until his passing. He enjoyed a wide variety of experiences and developed a multitude of relationships with colleagues who he also considered friends. He began in the Wesco college program working in the warehouse in Ft. Collins, Colorado. With focus and determination, he moved from the warehouse, to inside sales, then outside sales. In early 2001, he became the Pueblo branch manager and then a district manager overseeing branches in 3 states. After moving to Colorado Springs in 2014, he began the position of Sales Leader for the United States in Industrial Sales. He finished his career as a Director of Global Accounts-Sales Operations. During his time with Wesco, he had the opportunity to do a lot of travel. Though working, he still found time for the outdoors. He had many fond memories of the sites and experiences he was able to enjoy like hiking in Arizona, golfing in a variety of locations, walking the beach in California, multiple fishing trips to Alaska, and even a trip to Costa Rica.
Rob was a man with many interests. He had an appreciation of cars and motorcycles and enjoyed road trips on his Volusia motorcycle and in his ’81 Corvette. He had good memories of hunting trips with friends and family. He enjoyed watching all the local sports teams, especially the Broncos. He adored hiking with his dogs as often as he could. Some of his fondest memories are of his family trips with Heather, Derek, and Jason. There were many fun camping trips when the boys were young followed by several amazing family group trips to the Caribbean.
Rob will be forever remembered by his wife, Heather, and his sons, Derek and Jason (Julia). Rob is survived by his parents Paul and Carolyn Stolz, sister, Amy (Paul) Bradley, mother-in-law Deloras Kelley, brother-in-law Roger (Carla) Kelley, and several nieces and a nephew.
Services for Rob will be held on Friday, April 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Alternative Cremation, 2377 N Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. Reception immediately following.
