She is survived by her mother, Sylvia, and Tom Gillispie; siblings Alyssa, Sierra, Christian, Olmstead, Thomas, and Xavier Gillispie; maternal Grandparents, Maria (Dotchie) and Rod (Ronnie) Ellison. Aunt Ramona Ellison-Lewis, Uncle Eddie Lewis, Cousins Alex, Vivienne, Uncle Rodney (Tio) Aunt Becca Ellison, Cousins Tre, Rhett, and Malachi, Uncles Tony, Ray, and Aunt Becky Ellison, adopted Sister Lauren Conway, Jackie Conway, and Family, Dan Olmstead, and family, long-time friend Gabriel Metzler Paternal Grandparents Nick and Joanne Barbaro Sr, Aunts Missy Hutchinson, and Michelle Killebrew A multitude of extended family of over three hundred uncles, aunts, and cousins—a host of friends whose lives she touched, who loved her and miss her dearly.
Jasmine was born August 12, 1992, in Colorado Springs, Co. She graduated from William Mitchell High School, Colo Springs, Co, where she participated in Air Force Jr ROTC. An early diagnosis of juvenile arthritis prevented her from pursuing her lifelong goal of following the tradition of Her Great-Grandfather, grandfather, uncles, and aunts who served in the Air Force.
In 2000, Jasmine gave her life to Christ and was baptized at the Mountain View Church of Christ. Jasmine practiced the “one another’s” of scripture, as evidenced by one of her last text messages, upon learning of an older sister-in-Christ accident in which she suffered a broken leg. Jasmine encouraged her, reminding her of how she had been an important influence in her life. Jasmine leaves a legacy of love and joy with her family and friends, who now collectively give thanks to the God of Heaven for the 31 years He blessed us with her love of family, kindness, generous heart, and beautiful spirit.
When separated from family and loved ones, Jasmine often closed her conversations by quoting a poem from Meredith Willson:
I see the moon, the moon sees me,
God bless the moon, and God bless me:
There’s grace in the cottage and grace in the hall;
And the grace of God is over us all.
I kiss a rose; the rose kisses me,
Fragrant as only a rose can be.
Please let the Rose that comforts me
Comfort the ones I love—Meredith Willson
