Gene Walter Gallegos

April 5, 1951 – January 6, 2024

Gene Gallegos was born on April 5, 1951, in Monte Vista, Colorado. He passed away peacefully in his home with family by his side on January 6, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer. It was a blessing that he could have family by his side in late December up until his last days before going home to meet Jesus. 

Gene was a man loved by many and had a contagious smile and a big heart. He spent his early adult years in the Army and then moved into a career of caring for trees. He spent years working for Bob Rundo Tree Surgeon in Colorado Springs, Colorado, before starting his own business caring for his customers and their yard needs. He got such gratification out of transforming yards and helping trees and bushes gain new life by taking care of them. Gene loved fishing and could share tales of his fishing days and catching the “big” one!

Gene was the youngest of seven siblings and was preceded in death by his father Maximino, mother Teresa, brothers Armando and Max, Jr. and sister (baby) Emily.

Gene is survived by his daughter Amber (John), son Jacob (Shannon), and his precious love, Carol. He leaves behind his two grandchildren Ryan and Clara who always brought a smile to his face and laughter to his heart. He is also survived by his brother Charlie and twin sisters Emily and Marcela as well as his nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered for his caring heart, his ability to talk to anyone and the love he showed to those he cherished most. May he rest in the arms of Jesus Christ his Lord in eternal peace and love. 

Gene was cremated and a family celebration of life will occur in the near future.
