Doris E Shields, age 83, formerly of Clinton, Iowa and Albany, Illinois passed away on June 29th at her daughter’s home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Cremation rites have been accorded.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 13th from 1-3 pm at the Loyal Order of Moose in Clinton, Iowa where family and friends are invited to share stories and fond memories of Doris. A private burial at Clinton Lawn Memorial will be held at a later date. Doris was born on January 10, 1940 at her home near Preston, Iowa to Frederick and Sylvia (Soll) Stoecken.

Doris married Earl Shields on February 6, 1960 and made Clinton, Iowa their home for many decades. Doris worked as a press operator for 27 years at Collis Company. She later became employed with the Mississippi Belle (now the Wild Rose). Doris was a member of the Clinton Loyal Order of the Moose.

She loved crocheting, knitting, watching old Western movies, playing Bingo every Thursday night at the Loyal Order of Moose, and trying her luck at the local casinos. Doris and Earl were owners of E.D. & D.E. Crafts where together they spent many years creating beautiful pieces of wood art.

Doris is survived by her husband Earl and daughter Tonja (Lynn) Mattie of Colorado Springs, Colorado, her brother Frederick Stoecken Jr of Bellevue, Iowa, her sisters Laurel Nelson and Linda Jaeger of Inverness, Florida, 10 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughters Tammarra Dague and Torrie Lanning, her sister Louise Dewitt, her brother Roger Stoecken, and one great-grandchild.
