Carol Ann Maupin was reunited with her parents and lots of loved ones on May 22,2023 after a two-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. She fought like a champion but in the end the cancer won.
Carol Ann Holcomb was born Thursday December 30th,1943 in Warren Ohio. Her father walked into the hospital room with a bottle of champagne and a corset he had won in a bar raffle. Carol moved several places with her military family but their time between moves was spent with family in Ohio. The Holcomb’s finally settled in Colorado Springs in 1958. Carol graduated from Wasson High School in 1962. She still spent birthdays and BBQ’s with friends she graduated with.
Carol met her first husband Herb when her brother brought him home from college. They were married in 1963, had their son Patrick in 1967 and their daughter Shay in 1968. Carol was a wonderful stay at home Mom who made costumes every Halloween and was homeroom mother to their classrooms.
Carol and her second husband Danny made their way back to Colorado Springs where she was able to spend time with her family and watch all her nieces and nephews grow up. She was especially happy to be near her grandkids Kaitlin and Andrew.
Carol was an amazing friend to all who knew her! Her son in law often said she would bend over backwards to help others often to the detriment of herself. She was lucky enough to meet Paul around her 75th birthday. He saw Carol through 2 years of breast cancer and was there along with her daughter Shay as she took her last breath.
Carol is survived by daughter Shay and husband Scott and their children Kaitlin and husband Matthew and Andrew and husband Christopher all of Colorado Springs. Son Patrick and wife Amy and children Cooper, Haley, and Jake of Lawrence, Kansas. She is also Gigi to Charlee JoAnn and baby girl Whiting arriving in November 2023.
