Robert Wayne Warren

November 27, 1951 – March 13, 2023

On March 13, 2023, Rob Warren went home to be with his Lord and Savior. A celebration of life will be held April 15th

Rob was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Dolores Truss Slater and Charles Wayne Warren. The majority of his school years were spent in Midland and Amarillo, Texas. His senior year of high school, Rob moved to San Francisco, California. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1973 and then sold business machines in his first civilian job.

Rob later joined the Halliburton Corporation, working in California, Texas, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Over the years, Rob held a variety of challenging jobs, including managing editor for BSCS Science Learning center, engineer for the City of Colorado Springs Transportation and Traffic department, software engineer for Trafficware in Houson, Texas, and software engineer/architect and/or developer for various companies and projects, including the National Science Foundation’s Antarctic service contract, Qwinix Technologies, and Charter-Spectrum Cable.

However, Rob was also an enthusiastic entrepreneur and visionary who loved a challenge. He exuberantly embraced innovative practices and technologies and was not intimidated by a possibility of failure. As president and CEO of Pegasus Learning Company, Rob was one of three partners in an educational technology firm that specialized in building products for textbook publishers and school systems.

In 2021, Rob commenced his longtime dream of bringing to life the Alexander Film Animation Library with business partner Linn Trochim. As software architect and engineer, he and their team transformed the world’s largest legacy commercial animation library from hand-painted cels and drawings to the computer age, creating digital files and animation. Sadly, terminal illness prevented Rob from fulfilling all his goals.

Rob was adventurous, compassionate and exceptionally generous to his family and friends. He loved life and learning and was an excellent cook. He enjoyed lively conversation and deliberated deep topics. In the last year of Rob’s life, he turned to faith in Jesus Christ which brought him great comfort. He was especially fond of the verse, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:6)

Rob was preceded in death by his mother Dolores Slater, stepfather Graham Slater, father Charles Wayne Warren and stepmother Sue Warren. He is survived by his brother John Nelson, nephew Jon Nelson, grandnieces Edie and Penny Nelson, and longtime partner Ryan Stuart.
