Nora Lucile Clifton
January 18, 1930- March 8, 2023
Nora Lucile (Brown) Clifton, 93, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in her home, surrounded by family. She is survived by her sons, John Pine and Christopher Pine and her sister Betty Lou Carter and brother Ronald Brown. She was preceded in death by her son Richard Pine, her sisters Pansy Van Matre and Joyce Jackson, her brothers Tracy Hobbs and Robert Brown, and her parents. Nora was born January 18, 1930 to Albert Jacob (Browny) and Edith Brown in White City, Kansas. She was one of seven children and moved to Denver when she was 1 and then Edgewater, CO at 14. Nora began working at Lerner in downtown Denver at 16 and was married to John R. Pine at 19. They had three sons, John, Richard and Christopher. Nora divorced in 1969 after a long separation and married Andrew (Ben) Clifton. Nora lived in Denver and worked in meatpacking until her retirement in 1989. Soon after retiring, she and Ben moved to Fowler, CO. During her many years in Fowler, Nora was busy caring for her mother in her last years, and Ben through Alzheimers. She was very involved in the community, attending First Baptist Church, a member of GFWC progress club, treasurer for Blackburn-Dennis Center. She ran the Art Show fundraiser for scholarships at Missouri Days every year. Nora made frequent trips to Denver, keeping close ties to her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. And in all these things Nora shared her faith in God’s provision with anyone who she encountered.
Her unshaken faith in Jesus Christ was the strength to endure many health challenges and bring joy every day as she counted her blessings. Her life was full of love and she never stopped serving others as she served her Lord.
“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.”
Ephesians 5:1-2 NLT
