Charlie Reich, 76, of La Jara, Colorado passed away on January 14th in Colorado Springs, Co. He is survived by his three children Cody Reich of Clayton North Carolina, Audrey Reich Loy of Del

Norte Colorado, and Sarita Raine Reich of Camp Sherman Oregon. Charlie also had, four grandchildren Daison, Torrean, Zyla and Amelia. Charlie was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Floyd and Barbara Reich and was a big brother to David and Steven. He was proud of having served as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war. After his time in the Navy, he became a Farrier in the Capitan, NM area and served as president of the New Mexico Professional Horseshoers Association for a time. After hanging up is farrier chaps, he studied at New Mexico State University and earned his master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology where he worked in New Mexico and New Zealand, and ultimately in the San Luis Valley, retiring from San Luis Valley Health in 2019. His interests and passions included hot rods, Harleys, fly fishing –(tying his own flies), cooking and baking, art, volunteering and social justice, reading tons of books and having parties. That’s only a sliver of who he was. Charlie lived large. Mostly, he spent his time loving his family and his friends.
