Stephanie Ann Martz was born on June 30th, 1978, in Fort Collins, Colorado. Her parents were Jack Ray Martz also from Fort Collins, Colorado, and June DiAnne Martz (White) from Spokane, Washington. She spent her early childhood with her parents who traveled to Dallas, Texas; Jackson, Tennessee; Liberal, Kansas; and Tucson, Arizona before returning to Fort Collins. Stephanie and her mother then moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where she lived for several years before moving to Salinas, California with her mother and her stepfather. Stephanie returned to Fort Collins in 1987.

Stephanie did well in school and had good grades. She was very close to her grandmother and her cousins in Wyoming.  She married David Michael Dale on January 17, 1997, in Fort Collins, Colorado. After that marriage ended in divorce, she had her first son Jonathon Anthony Martz. She lost her son to SIDS when he was a month old. At that time, she was living in Cheyenne, Wyoming again. She married Kevin Anthony Loughry in Kimball, Nebraska. They had four boys together. Although that marriage ended in divorce, they remained friends. She did try marriage for the last time in Wyoming. After that marriage ended also, she moved to Pueblo, Colorado to be close to her sister.

Although Stephanie suffered from mental illness which kept her from being able to raise her sons, she loved them all and talked about them all the time.

Stephanie was known for her generosity. All her life she would help anyone with anything she had to give.  When she was doing well, she was very kind and sweet. She remembered family birthdays and would send cards. She also loved Christmas. She was an avid collector of dolls and bears. She loved to color intricate designs in her color books, and she kept a very clean house.

She passed away on January 27, 2023, in Pueblo, Colorado, in a house fire at the age of 44.

She is preceded in death by her father Jack Martz, and her son, Johnathon. She is survived by her mother DiAnne Brill of Greeley, Colorado, her sister Melissa Pelton of Pueblo, Colorado, her brother Ronald Foose of Greeley, Colorado, and her four sons, Jordan, Jacob, Donald, and Christopher. Of special mention in her life were Lance Ricord, her friend and Joe Powell, who she adopted as a father figure.
