John Louis Pullins, husband, father, and all-around great guy, passed away on January 5, 2023.
He was born on August 22, 1959, in Keokuk, Iowa, to Louis Harvey Pullins and Mary Diane Freitag.
Known for his sense of humor, infectious smile, and kind and compassionate spirit, John was also an excellent cook. He was known for and took pride in cooking for family and friends, and he was especially famous for “John’s tacos”, steaks, and barbecue baby back ribs.
John led a nomadic lifestyle, calling Iowa, Texas, California, and Illinois home before settling in Colorado in 1985. It was in Colorado Springs John met the love of his life, Pamela Barnes, on October 31, 1990. They were married three years later to the day, on October 31, 1993. Together John and Pam raised two boys, Brandon Alexander Pullins, 25, and Jeremy Alan Pullins, 24.
In addition to John’s love of cooking, he had a passion for writing song lyrics. He recorded them acapella as a gift to his mother. When not writing or singing along to his favorite songs, John could also be found writing stories, which he had hoped to turn into movie scripts. John loved outside sales, talking to people, and taking care of his customers. His passion for helping others was such that his customers were like family to him.
John was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Pullins, and his sister Adele. He is survived by his wife and sons, his sister Deborah Breen, and his mother.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, January 28th from 12-4pm at Mother Muffs – 2432 W Colorado Ave, in Old Colorado City.
