Cora Anna Dunkerton, age 48, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 after a 2-year battle with cancer.  Corrie is survived by her husband Mark and their two children, Ethan and Maggie, her parents Ralph and Robin Gates, siblings Laura (Christopher) Hollis and Mark (Elaine) Gates, bother-in-law Kevin (Alisa) Werner, her in-laws David and Martha Dunkerton and sister-in-law Heather Schneider and a large extended family. She was predeceased by her sister, Heather Werner.

Corrie was born in Colorado, spent her childhood years in Downers Grove, Illinois, and graduated from Wheaton College with a degree in elementary education. Shortly after Mark and Corrie were married, they moved to Colorado and have lived here in Colorado Springs since 1998.

Corrie had many passions, including a particular drive for inclusive education.  Her faith and servant’s heart started at an early age and led her all over the world, from as close as Mississippi to as far as Kenya and Ethiopia.  Corrie loved walking with friends and family and connecting deeply on all matters of life.  Certain topics guaranteed longer walks.  She made it a priority to check in on people who were going through a rough time.  Corrie had a relentless desire to better herself through relationships, travel, books, podcasts, videos and small groups that inspired others.  Many have already said they will miss her wise counsel, listening ear, and research assistance.  Corrie loved her family dearly and fought so hard and bravely to be here.  Her loss will be deeply felt by family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 29th at 2:00pm at Pulpit Rock Church and available online at https://youtu.be/DJ87SKE66Fc.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a memorial gift to Pulpit Rock Church which will support the Leku Keta Church partnership in Ethiopia, a church Corrie grew to love.
