Walter “Dan” William McGrew

August 23, 1958 – October 19, 2022

On Oct 19, 2022, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend Dan McGrew passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his family by his side after a heartbreaking cancer journey.

He is survived by his spouse and high school sweetheart Joyce; his children Keith and Crystal and their families (grandson Caelum, Adam & Nichole); his brothers (Tom & John) and their respective families; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents T.J. & Betty McGrew.

Dan’s passing will be felt deeply by those who knew him. His joy for life, love of family, prankster humor, and all things MOPAR, sparked happiness in everyone. And his uncanny ability to connect and make friends with those he met (whether he was at a car event or in any line) was inspiring. He was mentor to many; always happy to share his knowledge and advice.

Dan’s talented green thumb brought forth a cornucopia of veggies and herbs each season and his garden bloomed with flowers. He had a way with animals and children, where his unfaltering love and care made even the meanest of dogs drawn to his kind and gentle demeanor. Knowledge….

His warm, light-hearted, fun, and reassuring presence left a mark on all those he touched, and he will be missed terribly.

In lieu of flowers and food, the family would warmly welcome contributions to be made in Dan’s honor to any non-profit organization you are passionate about or one of the following:

  • In tribute to Dan’s lifetime support of the military: The Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org
  • In honor of his desire to help others beat cancer in the future: The American Cancer Society (cancer.org
  • In tribute to his fondness of animals: The Humane Society (www.humanesociety.org
  • In honor of his love for children: St Jude’s Children’s Hospital (stjude.org)

The family plans for a Celebration of Life in the coming year. Details on date and location are TBD and will be shared as soon as they are confirmed.

In the meantime, you are invited to offer condolences and share your memories here.

MOPAR to you!
