Mary Lee (Brown) Haddenhorst passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs, CO on August 14th with Fred, her husband of 66 years, at her side. Daughter of Almira and Winsor Brown, she was born 11/29/31 in Champaign, Illinois. Raised in Champaign and Peoria she graduated from high school in Pittsburgh, PA and received a scholarship to attend Carnegie Tech. She finished her degree at the University of Illinois, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority and was honored in 2020 for her lifetime commitment to the sorority. She was quite proud to follow in her family’s tradition of higher education and passed that value on to her children. She met the love of her life while working in Long Beach, California and they married in Fred’s hometown of Greybull, Wyoming. They lived several places during their early marriage including Billings, MT, Oklahoma City, OK then settled in Casper, WY where they raised their three children, Jean (Robert) Johnson, Bruce (Laurie) Haddenhorst and Ann (Pat) Miller. They subsequently moved to Littleton, CO where they remained many years. They retired to Sheridan, WY to play golf and be near their beloved cabin in the Big Horn Mountains. Mary Lee was an avid reader and passed that love on to her children and grandchildren. She was a gifted knitter and shared her creations with many in her life. She spent her career as a very capable secretary to multiple organizations, while never missing Ladies Day at the golf course. The kids always enjoyed the days she would break 100 and the family would have steak for dinner. She had an amazing gift for maintaining lifelong friendships and relationships despite the years and miles. If she met you, she never forgot your name and you were welcome in her circle. She and Fred loved to travel with friends and family and had many a story to share. She is survived by her husband, Fred, daughters Jean and Ann, son Bruce, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
