Curtis Joel Cooke

On Monday, February 14th, 2022 (Valentine’s Day) Curtis Joel Cooke Sr., devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away at 80 years’ old in Colorado Springs Colorado. 

Curtis was born on August 1, 1941, in Watauga County, North Carolina, to Joel and Margaret Cooke. Curtis was a Master Sergeant of the United States Army and an outstanding soldier. Among many of his military achievements, he received two Bronze stars while in service and served two tours in Vietnam.  After his military retirement, Curtis was the building manager at Taylor Elementary in Colorado Springs where he received several awards for outstanding service. He loved fishing , football, and good old-fashioned westerns.

Curtis is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lora Kathleen Cooke: Daughter: Laura Cooke and Sons: Curtis Cooke, Jr., John Cooke and Eric Cooke. Grandchildren: Citlali and Cielo Cooke, Emily Romero, Jacob Suazo,  Carina Villarreal, Silvan Suazo and his wife Elizabeth. Great grandchildren: Aliyah, Azriel, and Ariah Romero.  Additional family members are brothers and sisters: Jim Cooke, Chuck Cooke, Barry Cooke, and Kathy Cooke. 

Funeral service will be held on March 8, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in Colorado Springs at the Pikes Peak National Veteran’s Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80925.
