Charles Dell Byrd of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the age of 71. After several months of declining health, Charles died peacefully with his beloved daughter Stephanie and her family by his side. 

Charles was born in Waxahachie, Texas on March 11, 1950, to Father Roscoe Byrd and Mother Carrie Crawford-Byrd. He is one of 14 children.  His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led to him enlisting in the Army from 1970 to 1985. 

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Roscoe Byrd Jr, Jesse Lee Byrd, Donald Ray Byrd and by his sisters Rosie Byrd-Dunn, Edna Mae James, Margaret Nell Williams, and Waheedah Elahi. He is survived by his daughter Stephanie Conley (LaMarr); granddaughters Rhiannon Conley-Norman (Lee) and ShaiAnne Conley; great-grandchildren Jaxon Conley, Henry Norman, and Margot-Moon Norman; brothers Billy Byrd, Leonard Byrd, and Darrell Byrd; sisters Vanessa Byrd, Amatullah Elahi, and Shirley Byrd.

Charles spent most of his time at the Colorado Springs Senior Center where he LOVED to dance and socialize. The residents continually speak fondly of their memories of Charles and the impact he had upon their lives.
