Jo Elizabeth (Jody) Marricle

Born March 14, 1949 in Lubbock, Texas, Jody passed away peacefully at her home in Pueblo West, Colorado on  January 2. 2022.

Jody is survived by son, Lee Marricle; brothers C.O Marricle ( wife D.J.) and Mark Marricle; sisters Mary (Toddy) Neill (husband Glenn) and Melissa (Missy) Mitro (husband Larry); and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was pre-deceased by father M.E. (Dude) Marricle, mother Lee Marshall, sister Sunny Carlson, and brother Hardy Marricle.

The word that always comes to mind when thinking about Jody is “caregiver.” As a teenager, she was tasked with caring for her younger brothers and sisters after her parents’ divorce. She took on the role of mothering them efficiently.

As a single mother, Jody doted on raising her son, Lee. She and Lee lived with her mother who she cared for until her death in 1997. Others that she cared for included brother, Hardy and sister, Sunny through their final years. The list of those she helped is long.

Jody enjoyed traveling and took many cruises her sister, Sunny. Many others joined them on the cruises, including their children, nieces, nephews and friends. Jody and Sunny were in New York City on 9/11/2001 and had been scheduled to be in the audience of the Sally Jessy Raphael show in the twin towers that day. They later travelled back to be guests on the show and relate about their experience from that day.

After always being the caretaker, Jody was in need of care after being diagnosed with COPD last summer. Her son Lee took on the main responsibility for the past several months. Having him there with her gave her, and the family, peace.

Jody will be missed by all of those who loved her. Her wish was that her ashes be buried at her father’s gravesite in White Oaks, NM. The family is discussing a celebration of life and will share details if one is planned.
