Esther L. Cruz

Jun 25, 1934 – Dec 18, 2021

Esther passed away peacefully in her sleep December 18, 2021.  She was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico to Alejandro and Herminia Laporte.  She grew up with 3 sisters and 2 brothers. After high school graduation, Esther found her calling in service to others working in the Infant Nursery department of her local hospital.  She loved children!

Esther met her future husband, Abraham, in their mutual hometown of Guayama and left her hometown when Abraham enlisted in the U.S. Army.  Over what was to be a 20+ year adventure, the newlyweds traveled the world – Europe, the Middle East, Africa – in service to the United States of America.  During one tour of duty, they were stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado which became their permanent home in 1972.

Esther and Abraham were married 57 years and had 2 children, Luci and Abraham Jr.  True to her love of service, Esther had a lifelong involvement and commitment to her church and family.  Esther had varied interests – she was an avid bowler, loved camping and hiking, crocheting, and gardening.

Esther is predeceased by her parents, Alejandro and Herminia, her husband and son, Abraham Cruz Sr. and Jr. and is survived by her daughter Luci, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, she would be most appreciative of your contribution towards the search for a cure to Scleroderma and Alzheimer’s disease (www.scleroderma.org) and (www.alz.org/co).
