Helen Elizabeth Viteritto

Helen was born into this world on July 1, 1961, to Rose and George Bornheim in Springfield, Massachusetts.  She was a beautiful baby with big blue eyes and a cute little nose.  Her older brother, Jim, and sister, Karen, liked to teach her numbers and colors and she learned so quickly. The family moved to Willingboro, New Jersey, where Helen met her best friend Meg, who lived next door.  Helen enjoyed band and sports in High School.

She graduated from Willingboro High School in June of 1979. Helen decided to go to Lincoln Technical Institute where she graduated with an associates degree as an Electronics Technician.  At Lincoln Technical she met her future husband, Larry Viteritto.  They married on August 22, 1984, at a beautiful chapel in Medford Lakes, New Jersey.  They moved to New Milford, PA, and started working with General Electric.

The love of her life was born to her on December 5, 1990, Jacquelin Rose Viteritto. With almost porcelain skin like her great grandmother O’Keefe, blue eyes and dark brown hair, she melted her mom’s heart.  Helen enjoyed watching her first day of school, Brownies, softball and even football.

Helen worked hard at many jobs including working at St. Paul’s Episcopal church, as a rural postal carrier and a postal clerk.  Helen and Larry built their home in New Milford, PA.  Helen loved the woods and the beautiful lake nearby.  She had many friends and had a great time with her local ladies group.  Helen enjoyed taking Jackie and her best friend Lisa to Great Wolf Lodge, lakes and Disneyworld.  In Helen’s work at the post office in New Milford, her coworkers were like family and a real blessing to her during some difficult times and a divorce.  Jackie was taken to heaven at the young age of 16.  Helen knew Jackie was in heaven with mom and dad, and she just wanted to join them.

Helen moved to Colorado Springs, CO, in September of 2015 to stay with her sister Karen, and brother-in- law, Ed while recuperating from illness.  By the grace of God, Helen recovered from many of her illnesses and moved into her own apartment.  She worked at Rellius Medical, Johnson and Johnson, Bal Seal and recently for Thin Metals using her skills in Quality Control.  She enjoyed time with her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cherished holidays with family.  Helen had a good heart filled with love.  She made wonderful sweet pickle relish, loved the beach, puppies, sunsets and getting her nails done with her great niece Kadence.  Helen is loved by her family: brother Jim, sister-in-law Jan, sister Karen, brother-in-law Ed, nephews Jeff, Brian, John, Jon and Greg, nieces, Jill, Pam, Andrea, Mikel, Ashlyn and Great Nieces and Nephews Sierra, Jordan, Savannah, Ray, Quinton, Zane, Gage and Kadence.

Helen died on September 3, 2021, after a prolonged battle with alcoholism and illness.  Helen battled through each day after Jackie’s death.  She prayed and was the recipient of much prayer.  We are grateful for eternal life in heaven where she is rejoicing with her savior.  She is at peace.  Praise the Lord!

There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Helen on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 12 pm.  It will take place at First Evangelical Free Church, 820 N 30th Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
