IMELDA MARY CONSUELA DUMAN EVANS

It is with great sadness the family of Imelda Evans announces her passing at Freedom Home at

Lexington, Colorado Springs, Colorado on September 21, 2021.

Imelda, born June 30, 1924 in Colver, Pennsylvania, was the oldest of seven children. Her parents were

the late Leo Andrew Duman and Ruth Mary Kirsch. Siblings, Leo (Earl), Joanne Cass, Donald and

Robert survive her, and Marilyn McDonough and Duane (Maximilian) predeceased her.

Imelda married Walter Edgar Evans June 16, 1948 in Cumberland, Maryland. They were the parents of

13 children; Ronald, Patricia, Elaine, Kenneth, Betty Cooperman, Christine DiPietro (deceased), David,

Daniel, Nancy Cassell, James, Janet Acker, Karen Schultz, and Richard. She is also survived by 39

grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.

Imelda graduated from Mount Aloysius Junior College in Cresson, Pennsylvania in 1943 with a

Associates Degree in Nursing.

After moving to many locations, Walter and Imelda settled in Wappingers Falls, New York, built a

home and raised their family there 18 years. In 1973,Walter was transferred to Colorado Springs,

Colorado and they relocated to Black Forest, Colorado, where they remained for 35 years.

In 1976, Imelda joined the Black Forest Fire Department. She became an EMT in 1978 and a

Paramedic in 1981. She was Director of the Black Forest Rescue Squad 1980-1988. She taught EMT

classes at Pikes Peak Community College 1985-1995.

Imelda was voted the Keeper of the Forest for Black Forest in 1990. She retired from the Black Forest

Fire Department in 1996.

Internment will be at the Bluff Cemetery, the Walter Evans Family plot, Evans Road, Elbert, Colorado.
