After a sudden illness, Mona (as she liked to be called) was freed from her suffering, with family at her side. She was the most kind, compassionate, and generous person, and is survived by five sisters: Lorraine, Kathy, Liz, Paula, and Carolyn; by her stepfather, Bill; by her daughter Sara and son in law Lexi; by nieces Lauren, Karen, and nephew Chris; and by her loving partner Joe and beloved dog Jack.
Mona was an avid photographer and loved sending her family pictures of birds on her bird feeder she took during her morning coffee, and pictures of beautiful sunsets she and Joe would encounter when out driving in her adopted state of Colorado.
Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, upon moving to Colorado Springs, she found new friends and new interests in the beautiful scenery. She loved spending her free time with her neighbors Trisha & Sophia and liked introducing her new friends to her family’s New Mexican foods, especially her famous red chile.
Mona would do anything for anybody- if someone needed help, she would be there- regardless of the fact she was in a wheelchair for the latter part of her life. She found a way to help out however she could, and she did it happily and with pride.
Her loss will leave a void in our hearts, and she will be missed by so many, however, her family takes comfort in the fact that she isn’t suffering any longer and will still be with us-in our hearts-always.
