Nancy Jean Kozak, 56, born in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was living with her son Jason and helping to raise her granddaughter, Lilith.
A memorial service will be held in Ohio at a later date for all of us to honor her memory and pay respects. The date and location will be announced by her son, Jason and her sister Gail through Facebook. Nancy was loved by thousands of friends located all over the world. Nancy shared her passionate beliefs through Facebook and this seems an appropriate way to reach as many of her friends as possible.
Nancy was married to Michael Kozak for over 15 years. Michael legally adopted Nancy’s only child, Jason, at a young age and together they raised him through his high school and college years.
Nancy worked as a server and manager for Denny’s for many years. She later worked at the United States Postal Service as a union steward and letter carrier and retired early due to sustaining an injury in 2008. Nancy also took care of her brother David as his legal guardian after the death of their mother, Jean.
Nancy is preceded in death by her father, Matthew, mother, Genevieve (Jean), brother Richard, and mother-in-law Irene.
Nancy is survived by her son, Jason Kozak, his wife, Junifer, grandchildren, Jackson Daniel (JD) and Lilith, sister Gail Cielma, brothers David and Matt Cielma, sister-in-law Debbie, nephews Tim and Rick Cielma, nieces Melissa and Tara, father-in-law Lawrence Kozak, brothers-in-law Robert and Mark, sister-in-law Kathy, and her dearest friends Amy and Theresa. There are many, many more names that touched Nancy’s life and the family apologizes for being unable to list everyone.
Nancy’s hugs were magnanimous and her strong will and spirit were undeniable. Nancy was always available to her friends and family to listen, to comfort, and to laugh. Nancy enjoyed spending time in nature, rocking out to music, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and helping her family and friends in any way she could. She would not wish for anyone to be saddened by her death, but rather be happy about the time she shared with all of us.
Nancy often said that Nature was her church and Love and Light were her religion and she would want everyone to be at peace knowing that she is now free. She found peace in her life after retiring through meditation and with Yoga Nidra. Her final birthday wish was to help support Amrit Yoga Institute, a Nonprofit Organization that is dedicated to teaching yoga to anyone wishing to learn.
In lieu of flowers, Nancy’s family asks that you please consider donating to this organization instead through their website athttps://donate.amrityoga.org.
